Bootstrapping

Dave Winer wrote up an excellent definition of the word bootstrapping. Guy Kawasaki attributes the term to the legend of the German legend of Baron Münchhausen who extricated himself from the sea by pulling himself up by his bootstraps in a post with excellent advice for startups.
