Maine Trip 2006
Oct 18th, 2006 by Dave
In August we did our annual trek to Cape Cod; this year we drove up to Deer Isle, Maine to visit my aunt and uncle at their solar-powered camp which has a lodge, a bunk house and several sleeping cabins they’ve built themselves over the 30 years they’ve been summering there. I showed the kids my inscription on the outhouse door from 1973; they had a great time picking blackberries, raspberries and blueberries, harvesting mussels and playing croquet golf. The scenery was spectacular; when the tide was out you’d have mud flats out halfway across the cove and huge boulders that would change color with the movement in the sun and the clouds; the flats and the boulders disappeared when the tide came in.
